Dr. Blaga Stancheva

Dr. Blaga Stancheva completed her medical education in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she practiced as a pediatrician. She traveled a lot and lived in other countries as well. She settled in Vancouver in 2001 and volunteered as a clinical trainee in different family practice clinics, including in the Downtown Eastside. In 2007 she graduated from the UBC Family Practice residency program with extra training in obstetrics. Since then, she has been working at the Laurel Medical Clinic providing full spectrum primary care and delivering babies. She has obstetrical privileges at BC Women’s hospital and St. Paul’s hospitals in Vancouver.
Dr. Stancheva believes in the art of medicine just as much as in the hard science. She believes all patients deserve an individual approach to help them understand and overcome their illnesses. Beside English and her native Bulgarian she can efficiently communicate in Russian language.
Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.
